Scotland Golf Vacations always bring to mind the home of golf and the numerous world renowned Open venues at St. Andrews, Turnberry, Carnoustie, Royal Troon and Muirfield. But many of clients are quick to recall their great experiences at some of the lesser known courses or hidden gems such as Cruden Bay, North Berwick, Tain, Brora or countless others. Here you may interact with the locals or even have a member as your caddie.
While virtually all of the top clubs are private or have members clubs associated with the course they all accept visiting golfers. The days and times that they accept visiting golfers without an accompanying member varies from club to club. If you are looking to play the Open venues you can never start planning early enough. It’s not uncommon for our clients to plan 12-18 months in advance, but we can also arrange itineraries with 1-2 weeks notice. There are three general regions for golf in Scotland.
The St. Andrews / Fife area on the east coast is a very popular region for good reason. On Scotland’s west coast you have the Open venues at Turnberry and Royal Troon along with the historic links at Prestwick. If you are looking to get away from the crowds enjoy some very scenic golf consider the Scottish Highlands. Royal Dornoch and Cruden Bay are two of the most scenic courses in Scotland. The latest addition to the area is the links at Castle Stuart which is receiving rave reviews. Nairn a former host of the Walker Cup and Royal Aberdeen a recent venue for the British Senior Open are two of the more well know courses.
Call 1-800-238-7170 for a free, no pressure discussion to start planning your Scotland Golf Vacation.
St. Andrews / Fife Scotland Golf Package The St. Andrews / Fife region has not only St. Andrews Old Course Castle and New Courses but also the great links at Carnoustie and Kingsbarns and all are within easy driving distance. The town of St. Andrews is a great base and is home to Scotland’s oldest university. The area offers accommodations from great little guesthouses to 5 star hotels / spas. Many of hotels are close enough that you can throw your bag over your shoulder and walk to the first tee of the Old, New or Jubilee Course.
The Turnberry / Troon area is located on the southwest coast of Scotland and offers a great collection of courses all located within minutes of each other and only 60-90 minutes from Glasgow Airport. Turnberry’s Ailsa Course was the host for the wildly exciting 2009 Open that Tom Watson had within his reach. Just 30-40 minutes from Turnberry you have Royal Troon a frequent Open venue, Prestwick with hosted first Open Championship ever played and the likes of Western Gailes Dundonald, Glasgow Gailes, Irvine and Kilmarnock Barassie.

Just outside of Inverness is the new Castle Stuart Course which has been drawing a lot of attention for its natural beauty. Nairn hosted the 1999 Walker Cup, and going down the east coast Royal Aberdeen has hosted the British Seniors Open and Cruden Bay is one of the most scenic courses in all of Scotland. Guaranteed Tee Times at Valderrama Golf Club
Roundball Golf will arrange your Spain Golf Vacation to include confirmed Tee Times at the reknown championship Spain Golf Club Valderrama Golf.
As with many of the golf courses on the Costa del Sol, Valderrama was designed by Robert Trent Jones. However the 17th hole bears the unmistakable stamp of Severiano Ballesteros, who was responsible for remodelling it. Valderrama Golf is considered to be one of the best golf courses on the international circuit, Valderrama Golf course was chosen as the venue of the 1997 edition of the Ryder Cup and various fixtures in the Volvo Masters series.
Valderrama golf course may see like a gentle and agreeable course at first sight, it is actually very hard and its dificulty can test the nerves of the calmest of players. The fairways have been thought out with care and, apart from the elevated greens, there are also nearly a hundred bunkers dotted throughout the course. One of the most popular holes is the breathtaking 489 metres fourth, with a waterfall next to the elevated green that only world-class players such as Ballesteros, Olazabal, Woosnam, Montgomeri or Langer are capable of reaching in two.
In remodelling the 17th hole at Valderrama golf course, Severiano Ballesteros has helped to make the course harder. The Spanish champion has thought out the hole in such a way that it's possible to pull off a 200 metre tee shot. There is a water hazard in front of the green, and he has also introduced an area of semi rough about 130 metres from the water.
Enjoy golf in Malaga, scenery and nightlife year round. Delta Airlines now offers non-stop service from JFK to Malaga.
